Policy Update

Infrastructure Victoria has released the Victoria’s Draft 30-Year infrastructure Strategy for consultation.

The draft strategy recommendations are grouped into four themes: confront long-term challenges, manage urban change, harness infrastructure for productivity and growth and develop regional Victoria.

Many recommendations are relevant to water corporations, including on topics such as supply augmentation, liveability, water governance, waste and the circular economy.

The recommendations regarding water supply planning draw heavily on work completed in 2019/20 as part of the Reforming water sector governance paper, which included a water industry workshop, surveys and a VicWater submission.

VicWater will prepare a response to the new draft strategy under the oversight of the VicWater Policy Advisory Committee and draw on the recently endorsed VicWater Policy Platform. If you are planning an individual submission or would like to contribute to the water industry submission, please contact James Cleaver. Feedback is due by February 26, 2021.
