On 20 and 21 May, we held our conference, Connect. This was exclusively curated for our members with direct input from subject matter experts across our industry within VicWater’s areas of focus. Not only was the content tailored to our members but Connect was hybrid, providing in-person and online interactions between presenters and participants from The Langham in Melbourne. Connect went the next step with technology and will give you the opportunity to catch up on all presentations and in-session conversations at your convenience.
Many of the presentations at Connect related to our industry’s Policy Platform, deliberately designed to challenge us and consider future approaches as we progress as an industry and VicWater advocates for important improvements on behalf of our members. The Policy Advisory Committee will continue to drive the actions out of the platform with our support. For example, seeking Government support for the sector’s financial sustainability, preparing with clarity for the General Environmental Duty, reducing our carbon emissions, and measuring and providing consistent customer affordability were discussed at Connect.
We also ensured at Connect that we covered the topics that our committees are most engaged with this year – across cybersecurity, diversity and inclusion, finance and safety.
Connect reminded me that we have come along way as a sector, but there is much to do together. And that’s why VicWater exists – to go better together.
As we now prepare for the VicWater Annual Conference, please lock 9-10 September in your diary now and get ready to be challenged! |
