November was a month of firsts for VicWater. We held a new directors introduction, bringing together non-executive directors across water corporations and catchment management authorities to learn and share about how we collectively work across the sector.
I particularly enjoyed hearing from experienced directors, Andrew Cairns and Freya Marsden, sharing their experiences of the first 12 months in the role. The introduction is a start to what we see coming together in 2022 as a director development program, supporting non-executive directors in their various stages of tenure – covering introductory, contemporary, and future-focused topics which will equip them to effectively lead the sector.
We also convened a regulators forum involving the Department of Health, EPA, and ESC. With over 90 attendees, we engaged with the regulators on their regulatory posture, future issues and priorities, and areas for development in the relationship between water corporations and their regulators.
After a busy month, it is time to focus on 2022. We have plans to grow our advocacy and thought leadership, and will be announcing these in the New Year. In the meantime, I wish you a merry Christmas and wonderful holiday season and look forward to seeing you at our Annual Conference.
