CEO Update – August 2022

It is a great pleasure and privilege to be writing to you this month as the newly appointed CEO of VicWater, and I would like to thank the many people among our membership and in the broader industry who have reached out with their congratulations and well wishes. Since I joined VicWater three years ago, I’ve been consistently impressed and inspired by the passion and dedication of the people who work in our sector, and I am very excited by this opportunity to lead the organisation to help our members be ‘Better Together’.

Last month the VicWater team held our annual operational planning day where we determined our priorities and actions for the new financial year, in line with our approved Business Plan. Broadening and deepening our member engagement will be a key focus for us, and signalling our commitment to this work I am very pleased that Lauren Vines has been appointed to the new role of Engagement Manager. Lauren will be working with the rest of the VicWater team to make sure we take every opportunity to engage with our members at all levels, to understand how we can continue to deliver value.

We are also keen to make better use of our position and voice as the industry association to promote and amplify the great performance and achievements of our sector, through our monthly VicWater Update (1,200 subscribers), our LinkedIn page (5,000+ followers) and our media partnership with Prime Creative Media for their new trade publication Inside Water – find out how you can subscribe below.

Of course, one of the most important (and most enjoyable!) ways we engage with our members is through our thought leadership and networking events. Coming up on Thursday 8 September is our Audit & Risk Symposium, generously hosted by Platinum Sponsor Pitcher Partners at their Docklands office and featuring a great line up of industry leaders and external experts. I look forward to seeing you there!
