Program Update – December 2023

For me, this month has been all about equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I). VicWater has had in place a sector wide E,D&I Strategy since 2016, and our current strategy (2018 -23) comes to an end this year. We have made progress in some areas, but not all. Progress reports are released annually each year and can be found on the VicWater website. The final report of the 2018 – 23 strategy is due in early 2024.

Throughout 2023, VicWater's Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee has been working to build on what we have achieved over the last five years. They have looked at existing data, research, case studies and talked through what has worked for the sector over the last five years and also, what hasn’t. They have a vision to move to a truly equitable and diverse sector that represents the communities that we service. The new Strategy (2023 – 2028) builds on the foundations from the previous strategies and focuses on the delivery of actions and a general sense of working better together to achieve outcomes. The new Strategy will be released in early 2024.
