Helen Vaughn will join us at Connect 2021 to speak in the Diversity & Inclusion stream. Helen will present on the DELWP Insight Program, a program that aims to support women in the water sector to “fulfil their executive career ambitions by investing in programs to elevate their visibility and influence.” Entry is by application only and is a targeted program that supports women wanting to lead at the highest level. Applications for the 2021 program open soon.
Helen is the Deputy Secretary for the Water and Catchments Group, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP). As Deputy Secretary she has led the implementation of Water for Victoria (2016), which sets the strategic direction regarding Victoria’s water management including oversight of Victoria’s 19 water corporations, 10 catchment management authorities and the Victorian Environmental Water Holder.
She is also responsible for representing Victoria’s interests in the delivery of the Murray Darling Basin Plan, water pricing policy, the management of Victoria’s water entitlement framework, significant regional programs focused on improving the health of catchments and waterways, large scale water infrastructure projects that generate water savings or promote the re-use of water as well as water based emergency management and flood prediction.
She is an experienced executive having previously been in Regional Director roles in south-western Victoria and has extensive experience in policy, research and service delivery focused mainly on natural resource and emergency management.
