Katrina Johnson
Indigenous Business Leader and Managing Director, Cartymara Consulting
Katrina Johnson will join us to speak at Connect in the Diversity & Inclusion stream. She will discuss how we can better embrace Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. She is a proud Gooreng Gooreng woman, who was raised on her traditional lands located along the Burnett River from Cania Gorge to Bundaberg in South-East Queensland, Australia.
She has lived and worked on Yorta Yorta country in Shepparton, Victoria, for the past 30 years and working in journalism, media management and communications. Driven by a commitment to empower others, Katrina has worked across various sectors including media, education, employment, youth and families, leadership, not-for-profit and community governance.
In 2019 Katrina graduated with an Executive Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School. She intends to use this knowledge to tackle corporate, government and business domains to pursue avenues that will drive economic parity, cultural affirmation, and self-determination for First Australians and First Nations' Peoples of the world. Using a rights-based approach, I believe moving from intervention to investment will transform prosperity for both First Nations’ people and non-Indigenous peoples.
