Professor Sarah Wheeler
Professor Water Economics, University of South Australia
Professor Sarah Wheeler will join us at Connect 2021 to speak on the important topic of the Murray Darling Basin (MDB). Her presentation will focus on what we’ve learnt so far and will cover a brief history of the implementation of the MDB Plan. She will also look at the issues with the Plan and how various aspects of water policy in Australia lead the world. Sarah will also provide some broad water policy recommendations.
Sarah is a Professor of Water Economics with the School of Economics, University of Adelaide. She is the immediate Past President of the Australasian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society (AARES) and a fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. Sarah is an Associate Editor of the Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Associate Editor of Agricultural Economics, and Editor of Australasian Journal of Water Resources. She has published more than 120 papers on issues to do with the Murray-Darling Basin, water markets, agricultural economics and climate change adaptation and behaviour.
