Regulators Forum

Thursday 25 November 2021

2.00pm - 3.30pm

VicWater will bring together three key water regulators in a Forum that will provide an opportunity for non-executive directors, managing directors and their executive teams, and senior operational managers to gain a deeper understanding of the key priorities and regulatory posture of each regulatory body.

VicWater will bring together a representative from the Environment Protection Authority, Essential Services Commission and Department of Health, in a forum to discuss their respective visions for current and future regulation of Victoria's water corporations. The Forum will provide clarity and promote efficiencies around regulating the sector.

The regulators will articulate how they work with each other on delivering a comprehensive regulatory framework that encompasses economics, environmental stewardship, and human health protection in relation to water and wastewater services.

Participants will leave with:

  • An understanding of the regulatory posture of each regulator and the priorities for 2022
  • Knowledge on how the three regulatory bodies dovetail to work together
  • Insights on regulatory collaboration and where individual water corporations fit into that collaboration
  • An understanding of the frameworks each regulator works within and how the water sector can respond to these frameworks

A short presentation will be given by each regulator, followed by an open forum and Q&A session between attendees and regulators.
