Regular readers of the VicWater Update will know that in my role I’m often invited to be the “water speaker” at different events, which I regard as an important part of VicWater’s remit to promote Victoria’s water sector and the public value we deliver.
Last month I was pleased to join a panel discussion at the Property Council of Australia (Vic) Industrial Summit, looking at some of the major infrastructure needs and challenges that Victoria is facing now and into the future.
It’s been another busy month for IWN. We kicked things off with a full-day Fire Resilience Workshop, bringing together water corporations, researchers, and Wadawurrung Traditional Owners to explore bushfire risk and resilience.
Meanwhile, our Drone Boat Sampler project is shaping requirements for AI-enabled water monitoring, and Super Critical UV Disinfection trials continue delivering strong results, this time in Tasmania.
Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in a Leadership Summit, hosted by Business in Heels which brought together women from across climate, technology, energy and engineering to discuss leadership and career development.
I had the pleasure of sharing my own journey in the water sector as part of a panel discussion on Culture and Career Progression.
August was a quiet month for me as I was on holiday in the Northern Territory for half of it. However, it was not a water sector free holiday, with a friend introducing me to some of the safety issues he faces in the Top End, e.g. three phase power cables for high lift pumps having been installed in drainage channels and salt water crocodiles in wastewater treatment lagoons. Certainly not issues we see in Victoria.
