The IWN Circular Economy Gas Stream recently attended the Victorian Bioenergy Conference, which was held on 12 & 13 November in Wodonga. The conference hosted over 120 attendees over the two days, including representatives from Yarra Valley Water, Lower Murray Water, along with Jason Cotton (IWN).

The first day of the conference showcased presentations from AGIG, North East Water, Just Biodiesel, Viva Energy, JBS Pork Australia and Austrade and many more from Hydrogen to biomethane to biodiesel production. The next day featured tours of North East Water’s new Biomethane plant, JBS Pork Australia’s Bioenergy plant and Just Diesels Biodiesels refinery. This was a great opportunity to learn about new innovations and drivers for biomethane production and the rapidly growing market for alternative fuels for energy and fleet.

Conference delegates also heard from Vortech, who are visiting from Ireland after being nominated for the AWA WA Awards for their installation of their aeration unit for water corporations and who are currently working with Central Highlands Water to install their innovative aeration units. North East Water is looking to install the units to inject pure oxygen from the AGIG Hydrogen Plant.

One project the IWN CE Gast Stream are working on is the business case for biomethane use for energy or gas grid injection. This work is currently being modelled and will be presented through the IWN Wednesday presentations in the near future.
