Central Highlands Water welcomes First Nations appointment to Board

Central Highlands Water were pleased to announce the appointment of proud Gunditjmara woman, Renee Bosworth, as an Independent Aboriginal Delegate to the Board last month.

Ms Bosworth, whose appointment will commence in August 2024, is CHW’s second Independent Aboriginal Delegate to be appointed since 2023.

Ms Bosworth has extensive experience in customer and community engagement and a passion for advocating for the increased education, health and wellbeing of First Nations people.

Board Chair, Angeleen Jenkins said that Renee brings a strong sense of leadership that’s enriched with cultural knowledge, diverse viewpoints and strong perspectives in community needs.

“We warmly welcome Renee to our Board and look forward to sharing our work in strategic planning, risk management and corporate governance. Our caring for Country journey in delivering improved outcomes will strongly benefit from Renee’s expertise and collaborative approach,” said Ms Jenkins.

Ms Bosworth said that she is thrilled to be joining CHW’s Board as the first female Independent Aboriginal Delegate to share her skills and passion to support the delivery on CHW’s More than Water – 2040 Strategy.

“I’m looking forward to providing strong guidance to the Board as it relates to cultural awareness, cultural safety, community engagement, Traditional Owner networks, and CHW’s Reconciliation Action Plan,” Ms Bosworth said.

“This new opportunity will support my skill development in corporate governance as a Board Member of the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Cooperative.”

Supporting Traditional Owners and First Nations community groups on their journey of self-determination, and the implementation of their Healthy Country Plans, is a priority for CHW. CHW’s Reconciliation Action Plan aims to celebrate and protect the ongoing cultural and spiritual connections of First Nations people to the land and waterways.
