South East Water’s Board is pleased to have recently appointed an inaugural First Nations Delegate Eveanne Liddle, a proud Arrernte/Luritja woman.
Chair Lynn Warneke said the Board was delighted with Ms Liddle’s appointment given her extensive leadership experience in various roles at the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency and as current Head of Indigenous Affairs and Inclusion at National Australia Bank.
“The Board warmly welcomes Ms Liddle to her independent delegate role, a first for South East Water. We look forward to hearing her strategic insights on various areas relevant to our business, including strategy development, stakeholder engagement, support for vulnerable families and sustainability.
“Ms Liddle’s new role is part of our organisation’s action to support Aboriginal self-determination and commitment to strengthening relationships with First People’s communities,” said Ms Warneke.
Ms Liddle’s appointment aligns to the Victorian Government’s Water is Life Roadmap, improving participation by Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians in Water Board committees and other organisation committees.
The First Nations Board delegate appointment for South East Water follows the establishment of a newly-dedicated First Peoples team within the organisation.
The team will strengthen cultural awareness and embed support for First Peoples self-determination into the delivery of essential water and wastewater services across Melbourne’s south east.
