Community members in Cardinia Shire, Casey, Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula can access free help to manage their finances thanks in part to a community grant from South East Water.
The grant is helping Casey North Community Information and Support Service (CNCISS) to deliver a ‘Stay on Track’ financial literacy program, complementing its one-to-one financial counselling service.
CNCISS Executive Officer, Helen Small said the program meets the growing needs of community members seeking the right tools and education to manage their finances.
“We’re seeing an increasing number of community members presenting to us under financial stress, putting pressure on their health and relationships,” said Ms Small.
“Our Stay on Track program offers accurate information to help make informed financial choices, including advice on budgeting, bill payments, loans, using credit, avoiding financial scams and stopping the cycle of debt.”
South East Water Customer Affordability Manager, Nerida Casey said they were proud to help CNCISS support the community with the current cost of living pressures.
“Community Groups like CNCISS offer vital front-line support for community members who may be struggling to pay their bills and meet their financial commitments,” said Nerida.
“We’re excited to see this important project come to life with the support of our Community Grants program.”
South East Water’s annual Community Grants program funds local projects that support vulnerable community members; make our environment healthier; help people be more active and connected; and build our knowledge about water and how to use it in the best way possible.
South East Water is currently offering financial support to 13,000 customers with tailored customer care programs, relief and hardship grants, incentive schemes, hardship plumbing assistance and family violence support.
