On 12th November 2024, the Intelligent Water Networks (IWN) Circular Economy Program facilitated the Circular Change Makers Tour, providing participants with the opportunity to explore practical applications of circular economy principles.

The tour included visits to:

  • Cleanaway Plastic Recovery Facility (Laverton): Showcasing advanced recycling technology that converts plastic waste into valuable resources.
  • Repurpose It (Epping): Demonstrating innovative processes for transforming waste materials into reusable products.

These site visits offered valuable insights into how adjacent sectors are implementing recycling and repurposing practices to reduce environmental impact and conserve resources.

The program was organized by Kerryn Lester-Smith and Michael Thomas from Barwon Water, Jason Cotton and Isobel Decru from IWN, with thanks to Erin Ford, Repurpose It and Rodney Thomas, Cleanaway for their contributions and expertise during the tour.

This initiative highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing circular economy solutions and their relevance to the water sector.
