AquaGreen is a Danish Technology company that has invented and commercialised an end to end biosolids to biochar production unit known as HECLA.
In essence, the closed loop HECLA system accepts 20% dry solids biosolids feedstock and converts it to biochar in around 2-3 hours. There are 6 HECLA units in commercial operation in Denmark and Sweden with a number of others under construction.
IWN and a number of water authorities interested in the potential of HECLA have met with AquaGreen and are and are exploring how we might conduct a pilot here in Victoria.
