Central Highlands Water seeks support to reduce water use during treatment plant upgrade.

Planned improvements to the water treatment process used in the Landsborough and Navarre region are underway, representing a $2.5 million investment in the region’s water supply.

Central Highlands Water (CHW) is transitioning the Landsborough Water Treatment Plant (LBWTP) from the use of Electro Dialysis Reversal treatment to Reverse Osmosis treatment.

During these works, water will be delivered by tanker from the Avoca water supply system to supply Landsborough and Navarre. CHW is asking the community for their support to conserve water where they can until the project is complete, expected to be by the end of spring.

Quotes attributable to Central Highlands Water (CHW) General Manager – Infrastructure Operations & Environment, Paul Donohue.

“As part of our future planning, we’ve identified opportunities for Landsborough and Navarre which enhance how water is treated and reduce reliance on ongoing maintenance. This upgrade will deliver long-term efficiencies in resource management”

“We’re asking the people of Landsborough and Navarre to work with us throughout the delivery of this project to reduce their water use where they can. Our goal is to keep up with community water demand and minimise how much tankering is needed.”

“Some simple way to save water every day include limiting showers to 4 minutes, checking for leaks, turning off the tap when brushing teeth and making sure you fill the washing machine or dishwasher before starting a cycle.”

“We understand change can be inconvenient and greatly appreciate the support and patience of the people of Landsborough and Navarre while we undertake this important water improvement.”
