South East Water has been named a winner across 2 categories at the 2025 Australian Water Association’s (AWA) Victorian Gala Dinner and Awards.
Held on Thursday 16 October at the Melbourne Town Hall, the AWA awards ceremony recognises the outstanding achievements of individuals, organisations and students. The awards showcase and celebrate innovation, leadership, infrastructure and positive change to drive a sustainable water future.
South East Water and Iota earned winning status in the ‘Organisational Excellence’ category for Sotto® – network leak detection.
The Organisational Excellence award recognises significant and innovative initiatives within the water industry that drive prosperity and sustainability. These initiatives or corporate programs drive organisational, transformative change or external programs that improve the engagement or outcomes for our communities and partners.
South East Water won the Research and Development Excellence category for its joint consortium project ‘World’s first Transforming Biosolids Training Centre’ with RMIT University, Melbourne Water, Environmental Protection Authority Victoria and Intelligent Water Networks.
The Research and Development Excellence category recognises projects that challenge current practice and address the need for a sustainable future. These projects add to the conservation or better use of water resources, knowledge of water technology, environment, sociology, economics or culture aspects.
South East Water Managing Director Carla Purcell said the wins reflect the utility’s focus on purposeful innovation, while continuing to deliver safe, reliable and affordable services to customers every day.
“We’re proud and honoured to receive two Awards at AWA’s prestigious awards.
