The WMCIC was launched on 24 July and in partnership with the Minister for Water, and Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Intelligent Water Networks (IWN) invited participants from all Victorian water corporations to take part.

Six finalists were chosen from an exceptional field of entries.

This week on Tuesday 5 December, the 2023 Water Minister Climate Innovation Challenge winners were announced at the Award Ceremony held at Melbourne Water.

Congratulations to the 2023 joint winners:
💧Yarra Valley Water /Barwon Water / North East Water – Meta-analysis of low carbon cement alternatives for water industry applications
💧Barwon Water – Cellulose recovery from wastewater

Congratulations to the 2023 runner-up:
💧GWMWater (Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water) – Donald Community Power Plant

A Special Commendation to:
💧South East Water – Scope 1 emissions direct & real-time monitoring on aerobic digester
