Our very own Tara Daniel, Chief Operating Officer at VicWater, was extremely pleased to announce Scott Johnson from Greater Western Water as the winner of the VicWater sponsored WIOA Victorian Operator of the Year award at the WIOA Conference in Bendigo last month.
As an operator for over 13 years and an Operator in Charge for more than 3, Scott has always fostered an environment of kindness, personal responsibility, leadership, and safety. He welcomes innovation in the workplace and is always willing to try new things.
Scott has demonstrated outstanding leadership of his operational team and technical excellence during some challenging times, including extreme wet weather events and demonstrated critical thinking to contribute to the smooth integration of two businesses.
Scott has also played a key role as a horizontal leader across Greater Western Water where he has used his leadership capability and operational knowledge to help the business apply practical solutions and processes that have enabled GWW to engage with community and key stakeholder groups to manage to their commitment in delivering on their strategy to connect to country.
Scott has achieved this through helping shape the development of Greater Western Water’s first RAP and leading a shift in their cultural journey to create a more inclusive and diverse working environment.
For winning the award, Scott receives a plaque to keep and VicWater provides an all expenses paid opportunity to join the WIOA delegation on their tour to New Zealand in May. The trip is valued at over $2500.
VicWater congratulates Scott on his award and are honoured to participate in programs that showcase excellence in the Victorian water industry, give recognition to those with outstanding achievements, and highlight those that display good leadership and create safe, inclusive and diverse workplaces that enable people to thrive.
The WIOA Victorian Operator of the Year is an annual award. The completed applications are judged by an independent panel and the winner is announced at the WIOA Conference Awards Dinner annually.
