Central Highlands Water (CHW) team members rolled up their sleeves on Monday 18 March to work with Environment Protection authority Victoria (EPA), City of Ballarat, Leigh Catchment Group, Diona, Friends of the Yarrowee River and Landcare Victoria as part of an EPA coordinated Clean Up Australia Day action.

With over 30 people taking part, together they filled the back of the Diona tipper truck with waste found in, and alongside the river. Rubbish included trolley parts, and an entire shopping trolley, tyres, a car bumper and panels, pallets, household furniture, cans and fast-food packaging, car parts, broken glass and remnants of burnt-out vehicles.

It was extremely rewarding for everyone involved to remove waste from the environment and dispose of it appropriately, to ultimately improve the health of the Yarrowee River.
