Safety Culture and Leadership

To enhance safety culture across the Victorian water sector, the Safety Executive Group (SEG) provides a place for executives to come together to have a high level,  strategic focus on safety in the Victorian water sector. The purpose of the SEG is to drive the Victorian water sector to ensure that its people are safe and thriving.

The SEG meets regularly to share information and work collaboratively on projects which focus on safety leadership, cultural improvement, and issues.

The SEG has representation from all 18 water corporations and includes the Chair of the OHS Network.

Diversity and Inclusion

To progress diversity and inclusion across the Victorian water sector, VicWater has an executive group (DISC) and a Practitioners’ Network. This was done to support the delivery of the 2024 – 28 Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (E,D and I) Strategy.

The purpose of the DISC is to drive the Victorian water sector to be leading in inclusive practices through the monitoring and development of the E, D and I Strategy and action plans.

The purpose of the Practitioners’ Network is to provide a forum for information sharing and collaboration and to deliver the E,D and I Strategy annual action plan.

Each year a report is completed to show progress against the strategy. The final report of the 2019 – 2023 Strategy was released in March 2024.

Finance Issues

The Finance Issues Steering Committee (FISC) aims to address financial issues that are facing the sector using the power of the collective. They work closely together to share knowledge and leverage their skills on behalf of the sector to improve outcomes for water corporations across the state.

Cybersecurity

The purpose of the Cyber Governance Steering Committee is to provide thought leadership and advice on cyber security matters.  This includes a collaborative forum with relevant agencies to uplift and enhance cyber security capability across the sector through information sharing on cybersecurity best practice, programs, and issues.
