About the role

As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll take the lead in electrical safety and standards for Gippsland Water, as well as undertaking hands on electrical design, site investigations and works supervision.

You’ll be involved with the planning, design, tendering, construction supervision and commissioning of major infrastructure capital projects, along with supervising and mentoring the electrical engineer.

With a passion for continuous improvement, you’ll drive the optimisation of our electrical assets and have an attention to detail for electrical drawings.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in electrical engineering.
  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer in Victoria or eligible to obtain registration within six months.
  • At least seven years electrical engineering experience in the water industry or related industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of electrical standards and provision of technical advice at a high level.
  • Demonstrated project management and risk management experience.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to use technical software packages for electrical engineering.

The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is a Victorian Government statutory authority whose role is to work with and support natural resource management agencies, Traditional Owners and local communities to improve sustainable land use, biodiversity and water resources management extending from Ballarat south through the Western District Lakes and Victorian Volcanic Plains including Colac and Geelong, through the Otway Ranges to the coast along the Great Ocean Road.

About the opportunity

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of nature restoration in the Corangamite region, driving meaningful change through leadership, innovation, and collaboration. 

The Manager, Landscape Restoration and Biodiversity is a newly established, strategic implementation role at Corangamite CMA, designed to deliver innovative approaches to landscape restoration, climate resilience, and nature-positive investment. In this role you will lead the implementation of high-impact initiatives that attract private and philanthropic investment, accelerate on-ground restoration efforts, and address climate and nature-related risks and opportunities. 

Working collaboratively with Traditional Owners and other partners, you will guide a high-performing team to co-design and deliver projects that protect and restore threatened species, ecological communities, and Ramsar-listed wetlands across the Corangamite region. 

Landscape scale programs will initially focus on the Moorabool River catchment, the Victorian Volcanic Plain, and the Curdies River catchment, where emerging partnerships with nature finance experts are already underway. This role will also support the application of natural capital approaches across new and existing projects with a wide range of partners.

The role is full time fixed term for two years though we will consider 0.8 FTE. We offer flexible work arrangements and support working from home in combination with working from our main office in Colac and secondary office in Geelong.

Remuneration for the role is $114,341 – 129,693 per annum depending on experience plus superannuation.

 

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in leading strategic environmental or natural resource management initiatives, with a focus on innovation, impact, and long-term outcomes.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects, including budget development, financial oversight, procurement, and reporting.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of building effective partnerships with Traditional Owners, landholders, investors, government agencies, and community groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a small team to deliver high-quality outcomes in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and rights, with experience in co-designing projects with Traditional Owners.
  • Strong awareness of the political, policy, and regulatory environment affecting natural resource management, with the ability to navigate complex systems, influence decision-makers, and align projects with broader government and community priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to modelling the values and behaviours of Corangamite CMA and the Victorian Public Sector, including integrity, respect, accountability, responsiveness, human rights, leadership, and impartiality in all aspects of work.

Join us as Lead Project Manager for the next phase of the Bendigo Water Reclamation Plant upgrades. With concept design complete, this is a pivotal opportunity to drive delivery of a major infrastructure project.

You’ll lead a skilled team, manage approvals, procurement and stakeholder engagement, and guide the project through to government endorsement. Ideal for someone with strong construction project experience, particularly in wastewater, and proven leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

As our Lead Project Manager, you’ll be accountable for:

  • Project development and delivery through internal/external approvals, procurement, tender, award, design, construction and commissioning.
  • Manage the project delivery approach, lead all procurement phases, including tender review and negotiation, and oversee delivery contracts for Phase 2 of the Bendigo WRP upgrades.
  • Effectively lead a team to deliver the project by coordinating the work of a range of internal and external resources, including technical specialists, consultancies and contractors.
  • Demonstrate highly developed problem solving, critical thinking, negotiation and facilitation skills with stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

 

About you:

  • Specialist knowledge and experience in managing large construction projects (10+ years).
  • Experience in the upgrade and management of wastewater systems and recycled water systems, including treatment plants.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams in the completion of successful projects.
  • A tertiary degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • Eligible for Chartered Professional Engineer status of the Institution of Engineers Australia or Australian Institute of Project Management.
