About the role
Engineer Planning – Ongoing, Full-time
Band 6 ($88,420 to $113,170 plus super and benefits)
We are seeking a strategic focused Planning Engineer to lead in the development of long-term asset management planning, monitoring, analysis, reporting and improving asset performance in adherence with technical standards.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Lead water and wastewater planning and modelling—including growth planning, options analysis, concept design, hydraulic modelling, demand forecasting, and system capacity/augmentation assessments.
- Provide technical advice for system design, capital works projects, asset management plans, operations, maintenance programs, and failure-mode investigations.
- Support strategic asset management by contributing to asset policies, strategies, lifecycle planning, and maintaining integrity and accuracy of asset data across AMIS, WHMS and GIS.
- Monitor and support capital programs—including prioritisation, planning and allocation of annual and five-year Capex and Opex programs.
- Analyse network and operational performance using SCADA and plant history data to drive improvements, develop predictive failure insights, and support research into system performance and failures.
- Promote organisational excellence by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental systems, and fostering innovation, initiative and teamwork.
Qualifications and Experience
- The candidate is required to have a tertiary qualification in engineering leading to admission to the Institute of Engineers (Australia) for professionally qualified engineers.
- Substantial experience in water & wastewater planning.
- Proven experience in asset strategy, asset management systems and asset management information systems.
- Substantial experience in the application of SCADA, water or sewer modelling systems.
- A current driver’s licence suitable for Victoria.
- Knowledge of current developments and regulations applying to the water industry including a working knowledge and understanding of the Water Act (1989) and associated Acts applicable to the water industry.

- Engineering degree (Civil Engineering Preferred) and membership with Engineers Australia.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of strategic asset management standards applying to the water industry and all relevant legislation and regulations.
- Proven experience working with Asset Management Information Systems (AMIS), SCADA, GIS, water and sewer models and their use within an infrastructure or facilities management environment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic decisions, advice and direction in relation to planning.
- The ability to prepare complex written reports, strategies, policy and procedures.

The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is a Victorian Government statutory authority whose role is to work with and support natural resource management agencies, Traditional Owners and local communities to improve sustainable land use, biodiversity and water resources management extending from Ballarat south through the Western District Lakes and Victorian Volcanic Plains including Colac and Geelong, through the Otway Ranges to the coast along the Great Ocean Road.
About the opportunity
The Project Officer – Reimagining the Anglesea River is a newly established role at Corangamite CMA, responsible for managing and implementing the “Reimagining the Anglesea River” project. In this role you will support community and stakeholder engagement and lead project planning to determine immediate and future management options for the Anglesea River and estuary.
Through this consultative process, priority options will be identified and agreed, to inform development of a business case for implementation to support the priority values of the Anglesea River estuary. The position will also collaborate with regional agency partners and community on long-term planning for future management of the Anglesea River and estuary in the face of climate change and sea level rise.
Based in the Estuaries and Environmental Water Team, you will also support wider estuary and environmental water projects, programs and services, and support existing partnerships between agencies and groups as required.
The role is offered from 0.6 FTE to full time, and we offer flexible work arrangements and support working from home in combination with working from our main office in Colac and secondary office in Geelong.
Remuneration for the role is $84,782 – 96,710 per annum depending on experience plus superannuation.
About you
- Experience working with communities in natural resource management, environmental management, agriculture, community engagement and a relevant diploma or degree qualification or significant relevant experience.
- Strong skills and experience in project management.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and ability to effectively facilitate complex and diverse engagement processes.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Good written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare professional business correspondence and reports with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive, inclusive organisation culture.
- Demonstrated ability to model the CCMA’s Approach and the Victorian Public Sector values and behaviours.
- Current Victorian drivers licence.

The role
We’re seeking a Senior Water Treatment Lead to provide strong leadership and cultivate a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence within our Water Treatment team. In this role, you will drive a commitment to safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance while ensuring operational efficiency and budget oversight. Your expertise will be key in aligning all activities with operational goals, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
What you’ll bring
- A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, science or similar discipline.
- Strong expertise in water treatment, with hands-on experience in water treatment processes.
- Proven ability to manage water treatment infrastructure within safe drinking water regulations.
- Experience in building, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
- Ability to lead effectively in emergency and high-pressure situations.
- Commitment to safety, public health, and environmental excellence in a risk-based environment.
- Ability to participate in an on-call roster.
